Church of the Ascension of the Lord UGCC in Lviv
Church of Saints Andrew and Josaphat - which was the only temple in the early 1990's at Levandivka - was not able to bear all believers, so it was decided to build a new church. On June 7, 1992 Metropolitan Volodymyr Sterniuk and Bishop Philemon Kurchaba in concelebration of many priests made blessing of stone and place for the construction of new church. The priest Mykhaylo Pryshlyak gave sermon on the Liturgy. Since the blessing of place for the temple Saint Liturgy was held every Sunday. In 2002 the first Liturgy was held in a new church.
What we have today cannot be fully examined or described. We can see a great building, although it is not accomplished yet, here is a great community. And one, and the second is in dynamics - the process of growth and improvement.
Several thousand people can simultaneously pray in the spacious temple with balconies. There is a cozy modern lecture hall, workshops, refectory, etc. in the basement. On the third floor there are cabinets of School of the family, youth organization "Posvit". On the fourth floor there is Catechetical School.
Such organizations are operating in the church:
- Youth, children's and adult choirs
- Sodality
- Brotherhood of St. Joseph
- Catechetical school of Patriarch Joseph Blind
- "Posvit"
- School of the family
- Altar group
- Mothers in prayer
- Bible Study Group
- Community "Horytsvit"
- Children's youth center "Krok vpered"
